It's a modern societal, egotistical norm to wish to nail everything down in its proper place of understanding, so that we may feel comfortable and confident moving about from day to day; despite the nature of the universe being impermanence and truths that cannot be "grasped." It's also a religious societal, egotistical norm to establish an identity out of having faith in the beyond and being above what happens in this world. The ignorant, middle way which doesn't take itself seriously, is truly the most difficult to walk, and also the most freeing.
